Easthorpe Lodge Visitors Book - page 5

Many thanks again Rebecca for another fantastic stay in Yorkshire.  Easthorpe Lodge is easily the best equipped holiday cottage we have stayed at - everything is here - all our home comforts!  This is our second visit to Easthorpe.  We stayed in February when it snowed, but the weather has been very kind to us, generally sunny & dry.  Yorkshire Lavender is well worth a visit - very friendly and relaxing with a delightful tea room.  Sledmere House is a little was out, but well worth the drive.  Filey we found to be the least commercial of the coastal towns, which made for an enjoyable afternoon with some bracing walks on the coast.  Eden Camp and Rivaulx Abbey and Terrace were other highlights.  Our personal favourite is Castle Howard, which is the best kept visitor attraction we have been to.  We look forward to coming back to this wonderful cottage before too long.

We have enjoyed our stay.  The cottage is ideally located for touring the North Yorkshire Moors.  Can recommend eating at Betty's in York and The Magpie Cafe in Whitby (wonderful fish & chips).  The steam train from Pickering to Whitby is an enjoyable day out.  The cottage is very comfortable, spotlessly clean and well equipped.  Thank you for an enjoyable week.

We have enjoyed our holiday and the cottage provided a very comfortable base. We visited York - the Railway Museum and the Minster, the York Maze, which we would highly recommend, and the Air Museum.  Definitely use Park & Ride - very efficient and cost effective.

This lodge is like a home from home.  It is very clean and tidy and very quiet and peaceful.  We had a wonderful stay, which was very relaxing; the lodge is also very well equipped, even toys for the kids, the local eating establishments are also very good.  All in all we would recommend staying here to anyone.  First class and we will be returning again many thanks.

Another good week here although the weather has not always been kind.  Ryedale Music Festival better than ever.  Black Swan at Oldstead excellent food - also Byland Abbey (Arms).  Do not attempt parking in Scarborough - use Park & Ride otherwise it's a nightmare.  Scampston Gardens & Restaurant still a delight - also the Moon & Sixpence in Whitby Harbour.  Cottage a delight as usual.

We have had a lovely week staying in your lovely cottage!  The boys have enjoyed playing with the games and toys - especially the marbles!  The cottage is very 'homely' and very well equipped.  It was nice to have a 'proper' cot rather than a travel cot for the baby to sleep in.  Hopefully we will be back for a visit in the future and we would highly recommend your cottage to our friends.  Thanks for all your help.

Absolutely wonderful, we can only confirm all that has been written on previous pages as to how outstanding the cottage is.  The location, central for everything in North Yorkshire & The Moors, and the equipment supplied makes it the perfect self contained cottage anyone could ever want for a relaxing holiday.  The information provided in enough to keep anyone from being bored for a month's holiday at least and games/toys to keep even the smallest guest amused.  We have had two week's pure bliss and will be back again next year.  Everywhere we have eaten has been superb, as are all the Yorkshire folk we have had the pleasure to meet.  Thank you Rebecca, see you next year.

Thank you Rebecca for the loan of your beautiful cottage, by far and away the best self catering accommodation we have ever stayed in.  Very well equipped and lots of little extras for the children.  The boys have enjoyed Diggerland, Flamingo Land and Yorvik/Dig.  The adults enjoyed National Trust properties, a scrumptious trip to ‘Betty’s’ and the beautiful scenery.  All enjoyed the walk round the city walls in York.  The cottage is in a good location and plenty to see and do close by.  Can’t comment on local restaurants as ate in all the time, just had to use that kitchen – wow!  None of us want to go home, but I suppose we must.  We hope to return in 2010.  Many thanks.

Thank you Rebecca for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage and for the ‘little extras’, which we appreciate.  We have enjoyed a lovely week’s stay in your delightful cottage and hopefully will return.  It’s by far the best accommodation we have stayed at in an excellent location and all we could ever want.  You have thought of everything to make guests feel so welcome, giving the planning a lot of thought and care, sparing no expense.  We have visited many nice places this week.

Beautiful cottage.  Beautiful countryside.  Thanks Rebecca for thinking of everything.  Information packs were excellent.  We will certainly recommend to friends and family.  The Blacksmith’s Arms comes highly recommended.

We went away for dad’s 50th.  He enjoyed our visit to Easthorpe Lodge.  On the Friday we visited Scarborough, cloudy but sunny.  On the Saturday we visited Castle Howard, very bright.  The cottage is very well done and very warm and inviting.  Dad loved the kitchen, Mum loved the heating!

We have had a great weekend break in this lovely cottage.  Very well equipped with everything you could need.  Had a very nice meal at the Blacksmiths Arms Sunday evening.  Visited Whitby; nice place to wander for half a day.  Enjoyed the area and drives through the moors, very peaceful and picturesque; would recommend as an area to visit.

We’ve had a lovely weekend break in your beautiful well-equipped cottage.  We took a trip to Castle Howard; the house was closed, but we did walk around the grounds, which was lovely.  We also visited Scarborough and spent a day in York.  York Minster was well worth the visit.  Hope to come back to Easthorpe Lodge again.

Enjoyed our 3 night break at the Lodge.  It’s a real treat to stay in such a well decorated and comfortable cottage.  For two couples, it has been well thought out with the choice of bedrooms and the two sofas in the sitting room.  N and I made use of the garden to do some observing with a telescope, which was good, even though it was freezing cold.  Good central heating is really needed at this time of the year and the lodge is really warm.  We enjoyed our visits to Pickering, Hutton-Le-Hole and Helmsley.  We ate at the Ambiente in Malton, which was very good, and the Blacksmith’s Arms, which I thought was mediocre (even though it is a Good Pub Guide Food Recommendation) – to be honest I would try somewhere else.  However it is nearby.  Looking forward to coming back to the lodge.  Thanks Rebecca.

A delightful cottage with easy access to so many interesting places.  We have had a most relaxing visit and hope to return in the near future.  The cottage is beautifully presented and so well equipped.  We visited ‘The Blacksmiths Arms’ a couple of times.  Excellent value; especially ‘Fish & Chip Night’ on Thursday.  We also enjoyed dinner at ‘The Old Lodge’, Malton on Valentine’s Night.  Thank you Rebecca for your hospitality.

Rebecca – Thank you for the use of your cottage.  Everything is well put together and tastefully done.  We have had a fantastic weekend and will be returning again very soon.  We came as a party for my 40th (Kay) and have had a great time.  We will recommend it to our friends.  Thank you very much

Nice walks from a lovely cottage.  It has everything anyone would need for a relaxing break.  ‘Blacksmiths Arms’ worth a visit.  I’m sure we will return.  It’s a very nice part of Yorkshire.

Thank you for providing such a lovely cottage for us to stay in.  It is certainly worth at least the 4 stars.  The information you provide for places to stay/visit etc is the best we have seen anywhere.  At this time of year I fully recommend visiting Castle Howard to see their Christmas decorations.  However, word of warning.  Tuesday this week was the busiest day for coach parties.  If visiting York, I would recommend The Biltmore Bar & Grill in Swinegate.  Food and service was excellent.  Rebecca, it was great to meet you and the welcome was superb.  We even visited Sally Middlewood’s for coffee and cakes (chocolate meringues divine!).  We would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to visit the Yorkshire area as it is so central and very comfortable.  The provision of the cot and high chair was a great help, as we travelled with a seven month old baby.  Hope to be back again soon and my sister might even bring her husband.  Thank you so much.

Wow!!  This is a fantastic cottage!  We have stayed in quite a few over the years and this is by far the best.  Everything you could ever want or need – so comfortable and homely.  We have thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing break.  Thank you, Rebecca, for looking after us so well, especially at such short notice.  We have been walking round Dalby Forest – beautiful with the frost on the trees.  Saw the Xmas lights switch on in Malton, and can recommend the Thai House at Cross Keys for food.  Going to Castle Howard today to see Xmas decorations.  Very sad to leave the cottage, though, it’s such a lovely place – so peaceful and tranquil.  We will definitely be back again soon!  Many thanks.

Wow!  What a fantastic holiday cottage!  Very child friendly and brilliant to have everything we could have needed or wanted here!  Had wonderful time visiting family; will definitely be visiting again!  Thank you, Rebecca, for providing all the required information we could have needed.  Definitely best break we have had for a long time!  Thanks again.

Had yet again another lovely break in this beautiful cottage.  Really sorry to leave!!  Managed to have a dry, albeit cold week visiting loads of great places.  Hope to come back again as we have all become attached to this lovely little haven!  C says thank you, Rebecca, for the meringues again!  Yummy!  Hope to be back again.

It has been good to be back in Yorkshire, and have enjoyed our stay at Easthorpe Lodge.  You have certainly put some thought into making this a very comfortable house to stay in.  We would just like to thank you for your hospitality.  We will certainly recommend the lodge to our friends, as it has all the home comforts.  Hope to come back in the near future.  Thanks again.

Rebecca – Thank you ever so much for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage.  There wasn’t a thing we could have wanted for, and in such pretty surroundings to boot!  Well we’ve had a busy week visiting all our family up here, and it’s been fab to see them all.  If ever we’re up this way again, we hope Easthorpe Lodge is free!  Feel we should recommend a pub, in keeping with the last entries, so … the Royal Oak at Nunnington’s pretty good – proper portions too!  Castle Howard is definitely worth a visit, York’s beautiful and there are numerous villages to visit.  Beach isn’t far off either.  Thank you again.

We have had a very enjoyable stay – the cottage is so well provisioned.  I think you have thought of everything!  Although only here for a long weekend we have managed to visit Castle Howard – well worth a visit - and the coast.  An additional treat was seeing Fountains Abbey by floodlight on Saturday evening.  Of course the break wasn’t long enough and we will be back to stay in this beautiful accommodation with the rest of the clan very soon.  I will definitely recommend to friends and family.  Thank you, Rebecca.

We have had a lovely week in one of our favourite parts of the country.  The cottage is really well equipped and everything worked perfectly – even the weather behaved itself and we hardly had any rain at all.  Thank you for all your help and for the provisions on our arrival.  We found some really good eating houses not too far away – the Blacksmiths Arms in Swinton is excellent, and we renewed our previous acquaintance with the White Swan in Ampleforth.  Thank you for all your help.  Like many of your previous guests, we were sorry to leave!

Very nice cottage, well refurbished and, most important, spotlessly clean!  Have had a lovely week.  Great location – loads to do.  Recommend Castle Howard and North York Moors Railway.  Thank you very much, Rebecca.

We were up in the area for our friend’s wedding and decided to treat ourselves to a long weekend.  The cottage is so well equipped (just about the best we have come across) and the folders answer every and any question we had!  Thank you for giving us a home from home.  PS – Wonderful fish ‘n’ Chips along Malton Road!

We booked the cottage last minute and couldn’t have asked for a better break.  The cottage is the best self catering accommodation we have every stayed in!  Wonderfully clean and well equipped, with a delightful garden.  Many thanks.  Will definitely be back again.

I love the cottage.  It’s really nice.  We only stayed the weekend, but we enjoyed it.  My mum and dad had a barbecue both nights.  We sat outside and listened to the owls at night.  It was fun.  We might come back at Easter.  I hope we will!

We’ve had a fabulous if short stay in your lovely lodge and hope to come back another time for longer.  The walk books provided were useful and we had a great walk up to the Bridestones in Dalby Forest (great for kids as they can scramble over the rocks at the top), followed by a trip on the railway from Levisham to Goathland.  Castle Howard was well worth it and there is a now “high energy” adventure play park which kept our two children entertained.  Amazingly for this summer, we’ve seen some sunshine and were able to enjoy your beautiful garden in the evenings with a BBQ!  Thanks for the goodies on arrival.

Really the best cottage in the area!  We come each year to the Ryedale Festival and it has been a wonderful home from home.  Certainly consider it for repeat visit.  Had fantastic Sunday Lunch at the Black Swan in Oldstead (about 35 mins drive but worth it!).  You could also visit the ruins of Byland Abbey on the way – magical.  (Byland Arms also a good pub).  Scampston Walled Garden, a short way out of Malton towards Scarborough, is a dream with a super restaurant/café.  (You can go and eat without looking at the garden – worth it – but a pity as there is so much to learn in the garden).  “Moon and Sixpence” in Whitby by the water is excellent for lunch.  Rail/steam journey to Whitby from Pickering very much unadvertised – magical journey through valleys including via Goathland (Heartbeat) and Grosmont and onto Whitby.  A real treat if you don’t want to drive (£17.00 return).

Wonderful cottage.  Best we’ve ever stayed in, and that’s quite a few over the last ten years.  Rebecca, you’ve thought of everything.  We got around a bit – Helmsley Steam Rally … very wet.  A walk to the Bridestones, Castle Howard, York, Flamborough Head, but when the sun came out we came back just to lounge in the lovely garden.  Couldn’t believe the amount of red poppies in the fields … beautiful.  Had a wonderful time.  Thanks for the welcome package, Rebecca.

Lovely cottage, very well equipped.  Had a lovely time.  We would recommend Flamingo Land (get there early).  The boys really enjoyed it.  Lots to do in York and, not far away, Eden Camp was good when the weather wasn’t good.  Florios on Yorkersgate, Malton, was really good for Italian food.  Thank you, Rebecca.

We have had a wonderful break in this beautiful cottage.  Thank you for all your help Rebecca in ensuring everything we may possibly need was here (and more).  Lots to do with the children - Animal Antics in Malton, The Sea Life Centre in Scarborough & where Dracula took his first bite in Whitby!!  We would definitely return.

We have spent a lovely few days here and been hither and thither – thank you.  Castle Howard is quite the nicest Stately Home we have ever visited.  The Lodge is very well equipped.  We appreciated all the touches and both town and peaceful location.

Rebecca – Thank you so much for the use of your beautiful cottage!  Everything in it has been lovingly and tastefully put together, with no expense spared.  Easthorpe will be very highly recommended to anyone who asks me for a cottage in Yorkshire.  All the family have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we all hope to visit again later in the year.  Sincere best wishes for a very successful season.

Thank you so much for all the little extra touches – the toiletries, tissues, the delicious fruit cake and marmalade – you made us feel so welcome.  We have had a lovely, restful time.  Just what we needed.  We drove through Farndale one day – beautiful.  The highlight for us was Castle Howard and we would love to come back again soon.  With many thanks.
